"The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed:  Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly;  nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock;  and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away."  1 Peter 5:1-4

"Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience. But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless."  1 Timothy 3:8-10

According to the constitution and bylaws of Family Community Church, the duties of a deacon consist of the following:

1. To assist the Pastor in his work

2. To provide for pulpit supply

3. To lead prayer meetings in the Pastor’s absence

4. To provide member visitation

5. To provide care to the members of the Church in need

6. To disburse Benevolent Funds

7. To assist in preparation for observance of the Church ordinances-Baptism & Communion

8. To assist in promoting the evangelistic program of the Church

9. To assist the Board of Trustees in securing funds required to finance the budget of the Church

"Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful."  1 Corinthians 4:1-2

All trustees according to our church constitution, are required to be deacons in good standing. Trustees are further required to be faithful tithers and according to Acts 6:3:

“Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business…”

 

The State of California views trustees as corporate officers; however, in the church we are clear of our role as faithful servants and stewards of Christ.
